Senior Night

The Senior Capstone Project is a hallmark of the MVHS experience.  It provides a way for students to learn through a self-determined, focused project bringing together multiple academic disciplines. It is a sustained investigation that happens in phases: Phase 1 - Proposal, Phase 2 - The Work, Phase 3 - the Presentation, Phase 4 - Reflection.  Students are provided feedback from teachers and personally selected mentors throughout the process.

The recurrent reflections embedded in the Capstone Course, in conjunction with the public presentations and logbooks, are meaningful acts of learning that help students understand themselves. Over the years MVHS has witnessed a wide range of projects.

  • Engineering projects: Building or rebuilding a Jeep, a motorcycle, a camper trailer, a Tiny Home, and a bicycle.

  • Fitness-related projects:  Rock climbing, personal fitness routines, Century bike rides, basketball and pickleball court, bike trails, skateboard ramps, and ski training.

  • Artistic projects: Through painting, poetry, murals, original music recordings, and filmmaking.

  • Economic projects: Stock analysis, e-currency miners, and entrepreneurs.

  • Community projects:  Providing music for senior citizens, developing children’s camps, and encouraging wellness awareness.

Other projects have taken students around the globe to places like Costa Rica, Germany, Mexico, and Nicaragua.

MVHS invites all community members to come out and support our Seniors as they present their Capstone Projects on December 15th at 6:00pm.
