Moreno Valley High School students, Shade Bouchey, Haileigh Campbell, Eloragh Espie, Meaghan Espie,  Amelia Hoffmann,  Isabel Tafoya, Caleb Talbot, and Sara Turnmire all attended the Desert Light Film Festival in Alamogordo this past Friday, April 21.  Back in March students submitted their films to the festival in the categories of Animation, Documentary, Experimental, and Music Video.  Friday was a full day, attending a workshop, listening to the Key note speaker, watching films, celebrating awards, and finally capping off the day with a photo shoot at White Sands.  MVHS represented well receiving honors in:

Music Video – Honorable mention, Amelia Hoffmann

Animation – First Place winner, Amelia Hoffmann

Honorable mention, Meaghan Espie

Documentary – First Place winner, Eloragh Espie

Honorable mention, Isabel Tafoya

With an additional award to Eloragh’s movie for dealing with the topic of hunger.  The Otero County Hunger Coalition gave an additional $150 toward the food charity of choice.  This money will be presented to our local food pantry, ALMS.  We greatly appreciate the supports of this festival like the Otero County Electric Cooperative which donated money for travel stipends and awards.
