We are a 9-12 Paideia Learning Community
Nestled in the beautiful Moreno Valley of Northern New Mexico, Moreno Valley High School helps students find and develop their unique voice. Through Paideia methodology, teachers guide students in the pursuit of lifelong learning.
The school provides students with experiences to enrich their education such as student seminars and community engagements. Through local support, students participate in soccer, drama and golf in addition to the traditional athletics available through Cimarron Municipal Schools. The Angel Fire Resort is a long time supporter of the students and teachers: donating the land on which the school is built, hosting our annual Runs for Riches fundraiser, and offering teachers discounted season passes. Learning and working here means embracing the beauty of the mountains and the community!
Each faculty member is a department of one, giving teachers the ability to align curriculum vertically, and the balance of both foundational and advanced courses. With a four day instructional week and 10 professional development days, our faculty enjoy plenty of personal and professional time outside of the classroom. For these reasons and many more, MVHS rarely has an opening for a new faculty member.
STEM Center for Education
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics are the elements of STEM education and all teaching and learning in STEM is related to building capacity in these areas. While each one is something distinct, these fields are not treated as wholly separate entities. STEM education seeks to take advantage of the similarities and interplay of skills and knowledge among these fields to weave together a rich and meaningful learning environment. STEM teaching is dedicated to engaging students in ways that other areas cannot, in order to develop unique cognitive skills, habits of mind, and attitudes that will benefit learners throughout their lives. STEM teaching recognizes that a learner who masters the STEM curriculum is uniquely empowered to enter into the world of the 21st century.
Outdoor Exploration is Encouraged
The school has a history in outdoor education; we take hiking and rafting trips to bond as a school community and set the academic tone for the school year.
