2020 Golden Apple Award Nominee, Beth Tafoya
“The Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching Award is given each year to honor seven teachers based on their excellence in the classroom and commitment to their profession. This award has been given to New Mexico’s most outstanding teachers since 1996. Nominations are collected from teachers, students, administrators, parents and our community to create a pool of worthy candidates for this prestigious award.” https://www.goldenapplenm.org/golden-apple-teacher-award.aspx
Applications are reviewed and scored multiple times and those identified as finalists are chosen for a classroom visit by a team of past award winners and educators. We are proud to announce that last week the team was at MVHS to evaluate Mrs. Tafoya, which means she has been identified as a finalist.
“Recipients of the Award for Excellence in Teaching receive a $1,500 cash prize and a $4,000 professional development account in addition to statewide recognition at the Tribute to Teacher Excellence luncheon*”
Award recipients will be announced in November and regardless of the outcome, Beth is already a Golden Apple winner in the eyes of MVHS. Mrs. Tafoya has a servant heart and is just one example of the dedicated and talented staff at Moreno Valley High School. On a daily basis, Mrs. Tafoya’s contributions help to make our team infinitely better.
